Monica M. Curtis

Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Head of Government Relations

Monica M. Curtis is MetLife’s chief legal officer, head of Government Relations and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. In this role, Curtis oversees the company’s global Legal Affairs organization, the Corporate Secretary’s Office and the Government Relations and State Advocacy & Supervision teams.

Curtis joined MetLife in 2022 as chief counsel of the Litigation and Mergers and Acquisitions section and was appointed chief legal officer in 2023. Prior to MetLife, Curtis spent fourteen years at The Hartford Financial Services Group in various roles of increasing responsibility within the Law Department and business functions, culminating as senior vice president and Global Head of Litigation, Employment, and Employee Benefits Law. She began her career in private practice.

Curtis serves on the board of Pro Bono Partnership. She received her B.A. from Duke University and her J.D./M.B.A. from Quinnipiac University.
